January 2012 Newsletter
Dear Partners and Friends,
Once again we thank you for your prayers and support. We begin the year in anticipation of our upcoming move. We are eager to begin our ministry in Zambia as soon as we receive commitments for the remaining 18% of our ongoing support, or just 13 new partners giving $100 per month. Please let us know if you would like to learn more about how you can support our ministry.
The past year has been quite a journey for us. We began 2011 with a clear sense of God’s call to Zambia. We were unsure of where our support would come from, but trusted that God would provide for our needs. During the year we visited many churches and made presentations at numerous other gatherings. We now have more than 175 prayer partners, whose prayers helped sustain us through the past year. Two churches in St. John’s, Calvary Baptist Church and West End Baptist Church, have partnered with us. Over forty individuals and families have committed to give in support of our ministry on an ongoing basis. Many others have provided one-time gifts. It is humbling and overwhelming to have so many people partnering us.
We also completed some other necessary steps in preparation for moving. We were accepted as full members in SIM in March. Our commissioning service was held at our home church in September. As well, we finished the vaccinations for our whole family – nearly 50 needles in total.
Through everything that happened during the past year God has been teaching us to rely on Him alone. The familiar words of the apostle Paul in Philippians 4:6-7 have been a source of comfort and strength as we continue to learn to trust in God through all the circumstances of life:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. [NKJV]
Blessings in Christ,
