August 2011 Newsletter

Dear Partners and Friends,

Once again we thank you for your prayers over the past few weeks. Lots has happened since our last update. We were truly blessed by our visit to Ardsley Bible Chapel in Philadelphia, seeing so many old friends and meeting some new ones, too. We’ve been busy preparing to move. The children have started to get their vaccinations. Passports are being renewed. We’ve also started to sell or give away things we won’t be bringing to Zambia.

I also considered the possibility of resigning my job to become “active” with SIM on August 1, but decided to wait for a little while longer. God had other plans! I received a call from my employer on August 4, informing me that, as part of a company-wide cutback, my employment had been terminated immediately. It is clear that God has closed this door behind me as we prepare to serve Him in Zambia. See our blog if you’d like to read more about how God has turned seemingly bad news into good.

So it is with a renewed sense of urgency that we look to the future. We are so thankful that over 110 people have partnered with us in prayer. We know you are praying for us because we can see God is at work. We currently have about 67% of our ongoing support in place. We can purchase our tickets once we’ve received commitments for about $1,500 per month more.

Here are our prayer requests for August:

  • Please continue to pray that God will provide new partners so we can move to Zambia soon.
  • Please pray that God will provide more churches who would like to partner with us.
  • I will be attending Oasis, the annual meeting of the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches, in Wolfville NS from August 17-20. I am scheduled to meet with a number of pastors who may be interested in partnering with us. Please pray that my time at Oasis will be fruitful.

Blessings in Christ,

Tim & Kristina Churchill
